Tae Kwon Do Fundamentals
Power is directly related to speed and strength. Strength is
determined by an individual's build and muscles. Physical brute strength alone is of little use in
Tae Kwon
Do. Strength must be harnessed in conjunction with speed and focus. Concentration is key here. Proper breathing while executing a technique is
a must. It is impossible for a boxer to throw a punch while inhaling. Exhaling while throwing a punch provides a rush of adrenaline, tightening
the abdominal muscles and providing
extra strength. Many years of practice will make this
automatic.
While delivering a kick or punch, all of our power must be
sent into the target, not just at it.
